Helena Cridge
Elected

My name is Helena Cridge and I am standing for Kirwee Model School Board of Trustees. I have three children all of whom attend KMS. Cameron is in Year 6, Oliver is Year 3 and Rosaria is in Year 1. My husband Jeff Cridge and I live in Kirwee and operate our own farming business which is mostly all cropping and run a mobile seed dresser. Jeff has lived in Kirwee all his life and attended KMS as a primary student and I attended Springfield primary school and Darfield High School. Together we have seen the area and KMS evolve over many years. I am currently the New Entrant teacher at Greendale School and have been teaching for 14 years in various schools teaching various age groups, including secondary students and have taught overseas. I have been through ERO visits and understand how the education system works from a teaching and parental perspective and would like to delve more into the governing side of the education sector. I have previous governing experience as the Plunket Chairperson for the Canterbury region just prior to the national re-structure. This involved determining outcomes to meet the needs of clinical operations, our volunteer base, property and the national board. As with any board the key aspect is having a productive and healthy relationship between all parties involved to ensure successful outcomes for all. I would like the opportunity to be a representative on the board, ensuring KMS continues to deliver high quality education for all students. KMS has undergone huge changes over the last couple of years and is now in a great phase to plan and implement strategic outlooks. I look forward to bringing a positive, supportive, accountable, and future focussed contribution to the BOT.

Andrew Mahuika
Elected

Hello Kirwee Model School Community, My name is Andrew Mahuika, also known to friends and family as A.J. I am standing for the Kirwee Model School Board. I have two children currently attending Kirwee Model School and also my wife is a support staff member and a member of the Kirwee Model School friends.

As a family involved with Kirwee Model School, it is important to us that all children (as well as our own) receive their full and fair opportunities from our school and the Education Ministry. I believe that being actively involved with the school ensures that we as parents are contributing towards the success of our students.

My previous employment positions have provided great learning opportunities and fostered attributes that have shaped who I am today. -7 years in the New Zealand Army as a Mechanical Engineer and Trainer, deploying twice with the NZDF on overseas operations,(Middle East). - 2 overseas deployments as a Private Security and logistics consultant, (Africa and Western Pacific) - 12 years as a Beekeeper/Manager for our family owed business which we operated one of New Zealand's remotest food factories. - 12 years till current, Stockman/Team leader on a Pig Farm at Te Pirita I am also currently studying Aviation and undertaking training towards my Fixed wing Commercial Pilots Licence.

My interests outside work are - Spending time with my family and friends - Outdoor activities and sports - Flying

I believe I work well with others, have a down to earth approach and relish in developing innovative solutions and implementing them to meet challenges.

A bright future starts with education and we are fortunate to have a great school. I am hoping to ensure that Kirwee Model School is a positive, proactive and safe environment for all of our children to achieve success.

Thank you.

Andrew Mahuika

Dale Mayberry
Elected

My name is Dale Mayberry and I am standing for the Board of Trustees for Kirwee Model School. I have lived in the area for many years, growing up on a small farm in Aylesbury. My wife and I returned to the Kirwee area 6 years ago to bring up our 2 daughters, Amelia (7) and Elise (4).

I own a small local concreting business and I am responsible for all aspects of managing the business, including putting in the hard yards at the coal face. I bring a broad range of skills to the Board of Trustees, including strong leadership skills and the ability to work well with a range of people.

I am just coming to the end of my first year on the Kirwee Model School Board of Trustees having been co-opted on as a member in late 2017. I have enjoyed many aspects of the role. However, being able to give my time and skills to make a difference in the education of our children is what I have found most satisfying.

My aim, as a member of the Board of Trustees, is to work collaboratively to support the continued success of Kirwee Model School; a school with a strong sense of community, which values and supports its staff members and allocates the appropriate resources to provide our children with a quality education.

Leana Te Ohaere-Fox
Elected

Kia Ora Koutou, My name is Leana Te Ohaere-Fox. I am fairly new to the community of Kirwee, only moving here with my partner and 2 children towards the end of 2017. Both my son Mason, and daughter Nova, attend Kirwee Model School. Being that we live so close to the school I enjoy helping out in their classroom and also any school wide activities. I have lived in the Canterbury region for over 16 years but am orginially from the Hauraki district. My partner Andy and I run our own Building Company that invovles work around Selwyn, Canterbury and Waimakariri Districts.

I have a huge love of sport and am currently involved in elite level sports coaching that takes me all over New Zealand and the World. I am the Head Coach for the New Zealand Womens Touch Team and also the Head Coach for the Warriors NRL Premiership Touch Team.

I have a huge interest in Maori cultural awareness and involvement at the school. I also have a passion in health education and creating opportunities for our tamariki to be exposed to healthy lifestyle choices.

I believe through my involvement with my coaching I have a strong background in communication and working with a diverse group of people. I like to think I am open minded and like to be solution focused in all things I do.

I would appreciate your help in being elected onto the Board, as I believe I would be a great representation for our parent group, and want to help Kirwee Model School continue to be a positive place for our tamariki.

Brett Jon Watts
Elected

Hi, my name is Brett Watts.

I am a current member of the Kirwee Model School Board of Trustees and I am standing for re-election.

I have two daughters, Frankie and Eden who both attend KMS. Frankie is in Year Four and Eden, Year One.

I have thoroughly enjoyed being a trustee on our school board for the past three years and alongside other BOT members, have played a significant part in leading the school through many positive changes during that time.

I enjoy being involved in my daughters’ education and in supporting KMS in its achievements. I feel I bring good sense and sound judgement to the Board of Trustees and always strive to support our school in being able to be the best that it can be.

I work with the Department of Corrections as a Learning and Development Facilitator, training staff. I have a military background and spent 10 years in the New Zealand Army before joining the Department of Corrections in 2004.

I was born and bred on the coast and grew up in a small community. I spent my childhood running around in the great outdoors and still enjoy escaping to the hills for a hunt whenever I can.

I look forward to the opportunity of continuing to play a part in helping the children of our community not only succeed in education but have the best of journeys along the way.
